Vintage Trailer Interiors From The 1940's

With the outbreak of WW-II, travel trailer production in the 1940's ceased, as American factories focused on producing products, including aircraft, for the war effort. When the war ended, trailer manufacturing resumed with a vengeance as returning soldiers and their families clamored for new travel trailers and autos to tow them with. A whole new crop of "metal fuselage" inspired trailers came on the market as war-time factory workers turned their aircraft-building skills into producing new styles of trailers, clad in Duralumin and held together with rivets. These were well built trailers and their interiors often featured kitchen cabinets and countertops expertly crafted entirely from stainless steel. Trailer interiors from 1940 - 1949 tended to be more "mass produced" than in previous decades, but the materials and designs were just as spectacular. Upholstery and fabrics in trailer interiors from the 1940's tends to be brighter and more playful than in the past, and trailer cabinetry from this era generally uses lighter "golden" stain colors than the dark and formal high-end trailer interiors often seen during the 1930's. And with a more extensive use of plywood and veneers, trailer cabinetry from the 1940's often features beautiful grain patterns and complex curved ceiling panels, all radiating a warm golden glow.
